Andrea Segrè is Professor of international agricultural policy, Head of the department of agri-food sciences and technologies at Bologna University, and a former Dean of its agriculture faculty.

He is the founder and chairman of Last Minute Market (a Bologna University spin-off), sponsor of the European campaign A year against waste, and coordinator of the National plan to prevent food waste instituted by the Italian Environment Minister.
